Quality, Value & Choice from Lidget Compton Garages
Nobody builds concrete garages as well as Lidget Compton. Each concrete garage panel can weigh up to 100kg since the concrete walls are not only thicker than our rivals but the concrete itself is often much denser. This also means that Lidget are one of the few producers that can reliably provide concrete garage panels as tall as 7ft6in with a proportionately tall up & over garage door. Furthermore, just check out the size of the internal steelwork on our buildings.
All concrete garage panels butt to one another ensuring an almost seamless finish, the walls are sealed with a concrete mastic and fastened securely with three bolt fasteners. Optionally an internal sand/cement fillet can be applied to the inside bottom of the garage panels. Eaves filler is a standard feature on all our apex models.

Do I require Planning Permission?
Do you require planning permission? In the majority of instances the answer is “No” unless you live in an area of outstanding natural beauty or conservation area. You will require planning permission if the structure is in front of the properties building line or if as close as 2m to any boundary or will exceed a maximum height of 2.5m(8ft3in).
An application to Building Control is required when a building exceeds 30m2 in internal floor area or for most lean-to designs.
A typical concrete garage weighs over 2tonnes and will almost certainly require a concrete base of a minimum depth of 4in. Most of the pressure is bearing down on the edges of the concrete pad and therefore it is recommended (but not a requirement) that the floor is 6in longer and 6in wider than the actual garage. You might wish to add plastic membrane or polystyrene floor insulation in the case of a habitable structure.
